AfterWindow Company in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Westlight Windows & Doors is the window and door company built for the specific conditions on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Homes here are different from Torrance or Redondo Beach: they sit on active landslide terrain, they face relentless salt air off the Pacific, and many still have original single-pane aluminum windows from the 1960s and 70s that are now well past their service life. We carry eight manufacturer lines so the right product gets matched to the job, and every project starts with a written price before any work begins. Call us at (903) 354-7134 to schedule a free estimate.
Why Rancho Palos Verdes Homes Are Different
Rancho Palos Verdes sits atop one of the most active landslide complexes in the United States. The Portuguese Bend and Abalone Cove slide zones cause ongoing ground movement that racks door frames, binds or cracks window glazing, and breaks weathertight seals in ways that neighboring South Bay cities simply don’t experience. We’ve seen sliding glass door tracks in Portuguese Bend and Klondike Canyon pulled measurably out of plumb by slow ground creep. A homeowner calls about a door that won’t latch or jumps its track, but the real issue is a concrete slab that has shifted. No new door will function correctly until the rough opening is re-shimmed and squared to compensate for that movement.
Then there’s the salt. The coastal bluff elevation channels marine-layer humidity and salt aerosols directly into window frames and door tracks at concentrations far higher than inland LA Basin cities. Aluminum frames pit and corrode, seals fail early, and wooden jambs swell seasonally. Santa Ana pressure reversals stress already-compromised seals. This is why material selection in Rancho Palos Verdes matters more than almost anywhere else in the South Bay. Impact-rated PGT and CGI frames hold up to salt air better than standard aluminum, and low-e glass (a thin coating that reflects heat back into the room in winter and out in summer) cuts the glare off the Pacific without blocking the Catalina view.
Our Main Rancho Palos Verdes Services
The two calls we get most from Rancho Palos Verdes homeowners are for window replacement and door installation, though new-construction and addition window installation rounds out the work we do across the peninsula.
Window Replacement in Rancho Palos Verdes
Replacing windows in Rancho Palos Verdes usually means pulling out corroded single-pane aluminum and putting in double-pane frames that can handle salt air and hillside movement. Many homes built from the late 1950s through the early 1980s still have their original windows, and once the seals go, the coastal humidity fogs the glass and the aluminum frames start pitting. We measure each opening individually because years of ground creep mean the rough openings are rarely square anymore. Read more about how we handle Window Replacement in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Window Installation in Rancho Palos Verdes
Window installation for additions and remodels on the peninsula demands an installation crew that understands hillside setback requirements and coastal wind exposure. Oversized picture windows and floor-to-ceiling glass walls are standard on Rancho Palos Verdes homes built to capture panoramic Pacific views, which means heavier glass, more careful flashing, and anchoring details that hold up when Santa Ana winds hit. We install from eight manufacturer lines including ES Windows and CWS for the larger custom openings. See how we approach Window Installation in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Door Installation in Rancho Palos Verdes
Door installation on the peninsula frequently involves more than swapping a slab. Sliding patio doors with aluminum tracks have corroded in the salt air, and in slide-affected zones the rough opening itself has moved. We re-shim and square the opening before the new door goes in, then install a unit that will keep operating when the ground keeps shifting slowly beneath it. Entry doors from Therma-Tru hold their seal through marine-layer humidity and seasonal wood swelling. Learn more about Door Installation in Rancho Palos Verdes.

What pushes price up in Rancho Palos Verdes is the ground movement. Re-shimming a rough opening that has drifted out of square adds labor hours, and homes in the Portuguese Bend slide zone often need every opening corrected before new units go in. Salt-air corrosion on the old frames can also mean the removal takes longer than a typical inland job. Whatever the number, you’ll have it in writing before we start: fixed pricing, no revised invoices at the door.
